Ali's career has spanned a wide range of organizations, from large agencies and design firms to startups, management consultancies, and media companies.
Ali is recognized for his talent in inspiring teams, aligning organizations, and driving business transformation through strategic thinking and design. His design-centered approach balances a dual outside-in (user + brand) and inside-out (organization + product) perspective to 0→1 and 1→N challenges and opportunities.
He played a pivotal role in leading product experience design for Honest Dollar's Small Business Retirement platform (acquired by Goldman Sachs). Most recently, he led innovation and concept development for Hologram Sciences, a health and wellness startup.
Notable achievements include prototyping the first blockchain-powered fitness wearable, Fitcoin, for SXSW and the first conductive ink experience for Google Motorola in WIRED magazine.
Beyond digital products, he has applied his expertise to environments and physical products. This includes designing the interior and identity for the fast-food burger chain, Brgr, creating pop-up concepts and retail experiences for McDonald's, and developing concepts for digital park experiences and hybrid digital/physical spaces for Disney.
Currently, Ali is engaged in exploring the potential applications of machine learning for generating brand systems and leveraging business intelligence for strategic analysis. His diverse skill set and experience make him a valuable asset in the world of design and innovation.
Ali is an open-source software contributor and member of the Internet Safety Labs’ Software Safety Standards Panel. He holds four design patents and is a published author and speaker on design and innovation.
His work has earned industry recognition, including a Cannes Shortlist, Ad Age’s Viral Brand of the Year for Samsung S4, and the launch of ADP’s Data at Work, a machine learning style transfer model.
He has taught at Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, and The University of Texas at Austin, and has lectured at Columbia Engineering and NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
